Remembering Bill Jollymore

William Gordon “Bill” Jollymore was born on Jan. 20, 1934, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Elmore Lawson Jollymoe and Nellie Louise Gordon Jollymore.

He joined the Canadian Army out of high school, first training as a gunsmith and then as an armorer. He served as an armorer in Canada, Germany, and Korea. He separated from the service to open his own fly shop, the Thompson River Gun and Fly Shop. Bill developed a passion for conservation at the Lower Mainland Fish and Game Commission, where he served as president.

Bill was responsible for bringing the world famous Harry Lemire fly collection to the museum in 2017. He also served on the board of directors from 2018 to his passing. Learn more about Bill’s life from our commemorative exhibit at the museum.
